Kate Hudson Shares Exciting Update About Her Kids’ Musical Future

Helen Hayward

Kate Hudson recently opened up about a possible new chapter for her children, and it could place the entire family in the spotlight for music rather than movies.

During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the “Running Point” actress revealed that her sons, Ryder and Bingham, are already moving toward creating a band together.

The update offered a rare glimpse into the creative energy inside Kate’s blended family and highlighted how deeply music runs through the household.

Music Runs Through the Family

The actress, known for films like "Almost Famous" and the series "Running Point," shares three children with three different partners. Ryder, 22, is her son with former husband Chris Robinson. Bingham, 14, is her son with former fiancé Matt Bellamy, while seven-year-old Rani Rose is her daughter with fiancé Danny Fujikawa.

While speaking with Jennifer Hudson, Kate shared that all three children naturally leaned toward music. “They’re so musical, which is great. I think I might have planned it out that way,” she joked during the interview.

Jennifer then asked whether a family band could be in the future. Kate responded with an update that immediately caught attention. “I think my boys are actually about to really do that,” she explained.

According to Kate, both sons already have clear musical strengths. Ryder plays guitar and sings, while Bingham has shown unusual rhythm skills since infancy.

“Bing is an amazing drummer,” Kate said. “I mean, Bing can play literally anything, but he’s been drumming since he was about a year old.”

She added, “Yeah, I think it’s kinda gonna happen,” hinting that a real music project may already be taking shape between the brothers.

The comments quickly sparked interest among fans who have followed the family over the years. With strong creative influences on both sides of the family, the idea of a Hudson family music group no longer sounds far-fetched.

Kate also spoke warmly about her youngest child, Rani Rose, who appears to have inherited the same love for performing.

“Rani just sings, dances, performs,” Kate shared. “A whole pop star. She’s got popstar energy, Rani Rose.”

Even at seven years old, Rani seems comfortable entertaining and expressing herself creatively. The actress made it clear that each child has developed individual artistic interests instead of following the exact same path.

A Close Blended Family

Over the years, Kate Hudson has spoken openly about raising children in a blended family. Despite having different fathers, she explained that the family dynamic remains strong and supportive.

“It might not look traditional from the outside, but on the inside, I feel like we’re killing it,” Kate told The Times. She added, “The unit that I’ve created with three children with three different fathers is a seriously strong unit, and it’s ours.”

The actress has often credited her upbringing for shaping her parenting style. Kate remains especially close to her mother, Goldie Hawn, and longtime family figure Kurt Russell, whom she affectionately calls “Pa.”

Kate Hudson on Fame and Creative Freedom

In a conversation with Variety, Kate reflected on growing up in a famous household and learning to build an identity outside of family expectations.

“Thank God I had a mom who said, ‘Make your own way,’” she explained. Kate also discussed the pressure artists face after achieving success. “People really like to put you in a box. But nobody becomes an artist to be put in a cage.”

She continued by saying that creative freedom often requires difficult choices and risk-taking, especially when comfort and familiarity feel safer.

Alongside discussions about her children, Kate recently shared another personal wish — starring in a project with her mother. While appearing on LIVE with Kelly and Mark, she admitted she would love the opportunity if the right script appeared.

“I would love to work with my mom,” Kate said. “It would just have to be so right. We would both want it to be very meaningful.”

For now, attention remains on the next generation of talent in the Hudson family. If Ryder and Bingham officially launch their musical collaboration, the family’s creative legacy may soon expand far beyond Hollywood.
